THE FEEL
The outdoors is big in Moscow Mills, as are outdoor activities like hiking and bow hunting. But the beauty of Moscow Mills is how it manages to blend both a beautiful natural setting and a convenient business district.
HISTORY
Settlers began arriving in Lincoln County in the late 1790s, attracted by Spanish land grants. In 1817, one Shapley Ross bought a saw and grist mill here, whereupon he moved his large household. He then built a stone house on the hill overlooking the mill and the river; that house stands today and is home to the Lincoln County Genealogical Society.
The city was named after that original mill— and for the Russian capital, after the practice of naming towns after foreign capital cities.
ACCESSIBILITY
Moscow Mills is just off Highway 61, which becomes interstate 64/40 closer to the city of St. Louis. It is about an hour away from the city, and 45 minutes from Lambert St. Louis International airport.

ENTERTAINMENT
Archery is big in Moscow Mills, as are hiking, camping, and paintball. But for those looking for more “civilized” entertainment, there are a number of colorful restaurants and bars in the area, as well as a local zoo.

The Lincoln County R-III School District serves Moscow Mills.
PARKS & REC
Affton White-Rodgers Community Center | Contains an 8,000-square foot gymnasium for events, basketball, and volleyball. It also has a fitness room with various exercise equipment, and weight center.
Bee Tree Park | This 199-acre park features a memorial garden, fountain, and overlook dedicated to Lindell Gordon and R. Walston Chubb. The park includes a playground, trails, fishing, and wedding sites.
