THE FEEL
Park-like neighborhoods and private roads make individual neighborhoods feel like towns to themselves. Every lawn is cared for, and every road is well paved. People enjoying a uniform look and calm, peaceful neighborhoods will find Ladue a breath of fresh air. Housing choices range from spacious and elegant Tudors to custom estates.
HISTORY
Ladue began as a farming community and home to several prominent area families. Once automobiles began to replace horses and wagons as a way of getting around, area farmers began selling portions of their land to city dwellers looking for a more quiet pastoral setting.
ACCESSIBILITY
We’ll be honest: Ladue is designed to be a secluded destination, not a commuter haven. That said, the main road, Ladue Road, gives easy access to downtown Clayton and highway 170.
CULTURE
Recently restarted, the annual Dogwood Parade and Festival provides an opportunity to bring together residents, business merchants, and students. Ladue also houses the oldest and most respected country club in the area.
ENTERTAINMENT
Shopping centers and restaurants line Ladue Road near the highways and nestle among Ladue’s tree-canopied neighborhoods. Gourmet foods, upscale menswear, antiques, and fancy restaurants are the norm for Ladue’s well-off citizenry.
SCHOOLS
The Ladue school system has its own motto: “Honoring tradition, continuing excellence.” Indeed, the schools live up to this motto with some of the most highly rated schools in the area.
